Shivam Dube to be benched?
Shivam Dube¡¯s performance in the T20 World Cup has been underwhelming. The Chennai Super Kings' standout 'Impact Player' has struggled on two-paced pitches where the ball holds up and arrives late at the bat. Unlike MS Dhoni, who had the flexibility to bench Dube during the IPL, national skipper Rohit Sharma has had to strategically place him in less active fielding positions.
Dube¡¯s strength lies in power-hitting against spinners on flat decks, and his medium-pace bowling provides tactical options. However, his form has dipped since his World Cup selection. Rohit Sharma hasn¡¯t turned to Dube for bowling duties, and a crucial dropped catch against Pakistan has further questioned his place. Sanju Samson might replace Dube for the USA game.
Since his T20 World Cup call-up, Dube¡¯s performances have been under scrutiny. In the recent matches, he scored 3 runs against Pakistan, 0* against Ireland, and managed 14 runs while taking 2/13 against Bangladesh. His IPL performances were also lackluster with 7 runs against RCB, 18 against RR, 21 against GT, and 0 runs against PBKS. Additionally, his bowling figures in one of the matches against PBKS were 1/14. Dube¡¯s limited role with Chennai Super Kings and poor fielding have been concerns. Although he bowled well against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma hasn¡¯t entrusted him with regular bowling duties, limiting his contribution to batting.
Yashasvi Jaiswal over Sanju Samson?
India needs to bolster their batting lineup after a lackluster performance against Pakistan. With Virat Kohli adjusting to the conditions, and both Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya struggling with form, adding another batter is crucial.
Sanju Samson, despite not impressing in the warm-up game, seems a likely candidate if Kohli continues as an opener. However, the best approach might be to have Yashasvi Jaiswal open with Rohit Sharma, shifting Kohli to No. 3. This plan, however, doesn¡¯t seem to be under consideration.
Jadeja out, Kuldeep in?
Ravindra Jadeja¡¯s declining form with both bat and ball was highlighted when he was dismissed for a duck against Pakistan. With Axar Patel taking on a key over, India might consider replacing Jadeja with Kuldeep Yadav to strengthen their spin attack.

Following their morale-boosting Super Over victory against Pakistan, Monank Patel¡¯s team is expected to retain the same XI for the match against India.
