To prevent water supply disruptions in rural areas during the summer, the Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department has deployed nodal officers for monitoring and swift action.
Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Srivastava announced that in the first phase, nine departmental officers have been appointed as nodal officers. Their responsibilities include inspecting projects, conducting random village reviews, and gathering feedback from residents. They will also coordinate with executive engineers and officials to ensure effective water supply management.
The entire monitoring and feedback process will be overseen by the headquarters of the State Drinking Water and Sanitation Mission. Srivastava emphasized that strict action would be taken against officials if complaints about disrupted water supply arise.
To address issues on the spot, nodal officers have been directed to rectify defects during their visits and report to headquarters. Additionally, they will document their inspections through videos, which must be submitted to the department.
A control room has also been set up for rural residents to report water supply issues. Complaints can be registered via 0522-2239426, with online monitoring in place for timely resolutions.
The deployment of nodal officers will occur in four phases, covering all districts to ensure uninterrupted water supply throughout the summer.
