Couple Loses Luggage Before Dream Destination Wedding, Locals Come Together To Lend Them Stuff
An American couple had chalked up plans to tie the knot on a picturesque island in Scotland and cherish the memories forever. They?had flown 6,400 kilometers from the US to the Isle of Skye to tie the knot.
Everything seemed perfect for the American couple Amanda, 40, and Paul, 37until they landed in Scotland and discovered all their luggage had gone missing.The missing bags meant they were without their outfits for their big day. And because of this, they started considering calling off the wedding.
The nightmare begins...
The nightmare began when?when their flight from the US got delayed?and rerouted, Amanda and Paul Riesel arrived three days after their scheduled arrival, and just a night before their big day.?
¡°We didn¡¯t know the luggage hadn¡¯t made it until we were in Inverness,¡± said Amanda, who had fortunately carried the wedding rings and flowers in her hand luggage. ¡°We got to the luggage carousel to see it was completely empty and our bags were not there. It dawned on me that we would have to cancel and there was nothing else I could do.¡±
Their photographer appealed to locals for help
The couple had spent over ?12,000 on the trip which they had been planning for over two years. And now, they were ready to call the whole wedding off until Amanda's photographer, Rosie Woodhouse, appealed to locals to help the couple out - with just hours to spare.
In just a few hours, Amanda had been offered a selection of eight wedding dresses in her size, and 37-year-old Paul was given a kilt.?A kilt is a type of knee-length men¡¯s dress skirt non-bifurcated with pleats at the back, originating in the traditional dress of Gaelic men and boys in the Scottish Highlands.
The bride-to-be managed to source make up from a local chemist and had luckily carried the wedding rings and flowers in hand luggage.In another kind gesture, photographer Rosie even invited the couple back to her friend's house for a meal due to most of the restaurants in the area being closed.
"Perfectly imperfect wedding day"
¡°Rosie did all of this, I was oblivious to all the work that went on in the background,¡± said Amanda. ¡°In the middle of the night people responded, one woman even dropped off normal clothes to help. We woke up to this beautiful thing orchestrated for us. Because of her perseverance we got married."?
Pictures from the special wedding is now winning hearts on social media. The kindness and support of these islanders toward the American couple, who wanted to fulfill their goal of being married in the Highlands, is what made the "imperfect" wedding so remarkable. Although the wedding was not as dreamy as they had thought, they¡¯ll remember this day throughout their lives.¡°Every single person Rosie introduced us to and that offered to help will for ever have a place in our hearts,¡± said a delighted Amanda.?
