A dog is considered to be man's best friend and rightly so. And once again, a dog has come to man's rescue, thereby proving the endearment they receive from the humans is well-deserved.
In the incident that took place in Japan, a dog has been hailed?as a hero after she saved the life of a man who was having a heart attack by sounding the alarm with her incessant barking.
The 'hero' dog has been reportedly awarded a certificate for its action.?Koume, the 5-year-old Mongrel, was awarded an official letter of appreciation by local fire officers at a special ceremony last month, CNN reported.
Koume interceded at the correct time to save the man's life when the incident reportedly occurred at a horse riding club in Wakaba-ku, in Chiba city, on February 25.?
As per the horse riding club, the man who collapsed was in his fifties. Following the man's fall, the dog started barking persistently and alerted people and staff of the park, who then rushed to check what had transpired.
Subsequently, the staff members of the park and people who assembled there called an ambulance and paramedics and the timely action saved the man's life. He has since returned to riding at the club.
"Koume is usually quiet and barks only under rare circumstances. But when an emergency arises, Koume does bark," Yuna Maruo, a 23-year-old riding instructor, was quoted as saying by?CNN.
Maruo was among the people who came to the rescue of the man that day.?
The fire department also appreciated what the mongrel did.??
"Koume's action in calling for help and the staff's actions were a perfect response," a fire department official was quoted as saying by the outlet.??
This is not the first time when Koume has emerged as a hero.?
Previously, he had also drawn attention to a horse attempting to escape the establishment by jumping a fence and when another old horse was having problems standing on its own.?
