One of US President Donald Trump's personal valets tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, raising concerns about the President's possible exposure to the virus.??
But after being tested, both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence's results came out to be negative and they will now be tested daily along?with?White House staff.?
Later on Thursday, Trump told reporters he would be tested daily, saying there were "a number of days missed" between when the valet was last tested and when the valet discovered he had coronavirus.??
The President also said he'd had "very little personal contact" with the man, a US military member, who tested positive. He described the situation as "a little bit strange."
People working around the president at the White House have been getting regular tests for the coronavirus. But staff, Secret Service agents and guests have not been wearing masks in the West Wing.
"No matter what you do, testing is not a perfect art. So we test once a week. Now we're going to get tested once a day. But even when you test once a day somebody could, something happens where they get something," Trump said.
"I've had very little contact with this gentleman. Know who he is, good person... Yeah it's a little bit strange, but it's one of those things," he said.
Meanwhile, the US?recorded 2,448 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 75,543, according to the latest real-time tally Thursday reported by Johns Hopkins University.
The country -- hardest hit by the pandemic in terms of the number of fatalities -- has now confirmed a total of 1,254,750 cases.
