From bodysuits to tight-fitting clothes to jumpsuits, people often wear trendy outfits on flights. However, one flight attendant has made a surprising revelation about what passengers should avoid wearing on a flight¡ªand it's not what you might expect.
Andrea Fischbach, a seasoned member of American Airlines cabin crew, has witnessed a wide array of attire onboard over the years, making her well-versed in fashion dos and don'ts for flights.?
Surprisingly, she reveals that wearing a classic loose-fitted T-shirt¡ªa staple of trendy travel outfits¡ªcould be a major mistake.
Fischbach explains that a T-shirt could lead to some unpleasant consequences if things go wrong mid-flight.?
Speaking to whowhatwear.com, she shared, "I traveled a lot growing up, and one rule my mother made me follow, which I continue to follow, is to always have my body covered. Emergency slides are not fun to go down and hurt a lot¡ªit's not a smooth landing once you reach the end of the slide. The more you cover the surface of your skin, the more protection for your largest organ."
Due to this, she always opts for long sleeves and pants when flying for leisure.
Although it might sound trivial, covering up as much as possible can provide crucial protection for your skin during an aircraft evacuation or emergency.
Additionally, she advises against wearing restrictive clothing on flights. If you experience swelling during the journey, tight outfits can impede blood flow. "This is especially crucial for tall individuals, frequent travelers, or those on long flights, as they are at higher risk of developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT)."
Deep vein thrombosis is a medical condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in one or more of the deep veins in your body, typically in your legs. This clot can cause pain, swelling, and redness in the affected area, though sometimes it may occur without noticeable symptoms.
Well, next time you travel, make sure to cover up!
