Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss has called for a 'Trump revolution' in the country and to make Great Britain great again. Truss, who holds the record for being the shortest-serving UK PM, made the comments on social media while endorsing Trump's crackdown on DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) initiatives in the US.
"Britain has more DEI employees per head than anywhere else in the world, the highest tax burden since 1948 and record migration," the former leader of the Conservative Party noted.
"We need a Trump revolution. After all, who doesn¡¯t want to see Great Britain made great again?" she wrote further.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacted to Truss's post by saying, "Wow".
Under Musk, who in the past has called DEI "another word for racism," the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been cracking down on such initiatives put in place by the previous Joe Biden administration.
Shortly after assuming office, Trump had signed an executive order ending federal DEI mandates.
Musk also shared the screenshot of the website for the office meant to ensure diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, showing that it was not working.
Following the executive order, several federal agencies have begun removing resources for underrepresented Americans from their webpages.
Many have also cancelled staff training and closed diversity offices to comply with the order from Trump, who has called for all DEI staff to be put on paid leave and eventually be laid off.
Trump has called DEI programs ¡°discrimination¡± and insisted on restoring strictly ¡°merit-based¡± hiring.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has directed all embassies and consulates abroad that they can no longer fly the LGBTQ+ pride or Black Lives Matter flags, which had been permitted under the Biden administration.
It is not just government agencies; several top tech companies in the US have also ended or scaled down their DEI initiatives.
