Photos that will break one's heart are showing the impact Kenya's drought is having on the giraffe population in the country, as per NDTV. The most widely shared photo is one of six giraffes lying dead inside the Sabuli Wildlife Conservancy in Wajir.??
This photo was reportedly taken after the giraffes "got stuck in the mud as they tried to drink from a nearly dried-up reservoir nearby." They were weak from not eating and drinking and died as a result.

The bodies were moved to the place where they were photographed. This was to avoid contaminating the water in the reservoir.?
As per Al Jazeera, Northern Kenya has got less than 30% of normal rainfall since September. This has resulted in a drought.?
"Domesticated animals were being assisted but not wildlife, and now they are suffering," said Ibrahim Ali, from the Bour-Algi giraffe sanctuary said while speaking to The Star.?
He added how farming activities along the river prevented giraffes from accessing water.?

The Star reported that 4000 giraffes in the nearby Garissa county could be wiped out due to the drought.?
