The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has reportedly directed all its employees to remove all pronouns from emails and other applications. This follows a recent announcement by NASA to end all DEI programmes.
All NASA employees, including civil servants, contractors, and grantees, have been directed to modify their signature block on the nasa.gov email address.
"The signature block should not include additional embellishment," an email to NASA employees noted.
"In response to the Executive Orders, NASA has disabled features in id.nasa.gov and Teams that allow users to add pronouns in their display name in Microsoft Outlook and Teams," the email reads. "For users who have previously added pronouns to their display name, those pronouns will be automatically removed from the system this week."
Additionally, NASA employees were required to "drop everything" and remove a list of words from public-facing websites, including "Indigenous people" and "Anything specifically targeting women (women in leadership, etc.)."
On his first day in office, US President Trump signed an executive order titled "Defending women from gender ideology and extremism and restoring biological truth to the federal government," which, among other things, calls on agencies to "end the Federal funding of gender ideology."
Trump also signed an order recognising two sexes only 每 male and female 每 and declaring that they cannot be changed.
In a related development, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has banned transgender women from competing in women's college sports.
That decision followed Trump's signing of an executive order asking his agencies to withdraw federal funding from educational institutions if they defied him and let transgender girls and women compete.
