Imagine disappearing for some time and having no contact with the world and you suddenly return to see you are in the middle of a pandemic. Well, for Russian photographer Max Adveev, that is pretty much a reality. In late February he set off on his traditional journey of roaming through the Russian wilderness with reindeer herders on snowmobiles. He was completely off the grid.?
But things changed by the time he returned. When he was back in civilisation, he saw he had returned to a pandemic. The coronavirus outbreak which was in full swing with over 8000 dead and 200,000 infected.?

The 32-year-old was of course oblivious to all this, but when his phone became active again, the messages started coming in and he realised the gravity of the situation.?
¡°My girlfriend said, ¡°Are you OK!? Are you alive!? Should we start a rescue operation!?¡¯¡± he recalled according to BuzzFeed.?
¡°Take a photo of your face now. And then take another photo after you read the news,¡± he was told by a friend.?
Max Adveev
¡°I was like, what? Totally confused,¡± he added.?
But because he still did not have internet access, he forced the friend to tell him everything. By the time the friend was done, he felt he was going crazy.?
¡°I just thought, ¡®Wow!'I left the world unattended for 10 days and it was enough for it to fall apart ¡ª just in 10 f**king days," he went on to say.?

¡°I saw reports about how there was no toilet paper in Los Angeles and London, and I thought about how they lack the Soviet experience of how to deal with things when there are limited products!¡±?
No doubt it was a big shock for Max. He must be wondering, how long was he gone for??
Of course the outbreak itself is no laughing matter. It is spreading fast and needs to be put in check before more damage is done. Not that enough damage has not been caused already. ?
