Unless you are detached from the world and access to information of what is going on, you are well aware that coronavirus is ravaging its way across the globe. More than 60,000 are dead and over 1200,000 are affected. The virus originated in China and has now spread as far as USA.??
Of course by now most of us are familiar of the symptoms - fever, dry cough and fatigue. Now the main thing do is if anybody is showing these signs, that person needs to go and get himself or herself checked. But there is also a threat to consider that is just as big. Yes, we are talking of 'silent carriers'. People who have the disease, but do not show signs of it, and they are the real risk.?
Now initially, WHO said that chances of those without symptoms transmitting the virus are less. But that was based on studies at the time. Now, after more research has been done, fresh data suggests that a number of people who have the virus but show no symptoms may be transmitting the disease.?
WHO has urged more testing to be done in order to weed out these 'silent carriers'. The more people are tested, the more cases shall be caught. Remember, a person with coronavirus may not show the symptoms just like a person showing the symptoms may not have coronavirus. So it's better to be safe than sorry. Regardless of whether a person is showing signs of nor, get that individual tested, just to make sure. It's easier said than done, but it is the way to go about it.?
Even now, how common these carriers are cannot be determined because one does not know who is carrying it. What makes it worse is that since these people do not know they are sick themselves, they tend to take less precautions and expose others to the risk of infection.?
In fact according to the Director of the CDC, that such cases could account for 25 per cent of the transmission. Another thing is that these people may never show the signs and probably shall have no clue they are positive until and unless a test is done. By then who knows how much it may spread. The bottom line is, nobody is safe and nobody is immune.?
These carriers are just as big a threat because unlike those who show signs, one does not know that they are to be avoided. They seem harmless and you will never know if you have come into contact with a positive case or if you are one yourself.?
So what's the solution? Take precautions regardless of symptoms so that you do not get sick or get others sick. And also get tested to ensure you are virus-free. If you are, then keep taking precautions and if you are not, then get yourself treated. Remember, regardless of whether a carrier has symptoms or not, the disease will not vary in its effectivenesss.??
