Most of us who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 have taken two doses of it. Some who were concerned about new variants of the virus went on to get a third, booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
But a German man did not stop at just two or three and has reportedly received more than 200 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Researchers at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) and University Hospital Erlangen have examined a man who claims to have received 217 doses of vaccinations against COVID-19.?
They examined the unidentified recipient after his case was reported in the local media, to study the effects of hypervaccination on the immune system.
Researchers found that there were records of the 62-year-old getting at least 134 vaccinations using eight different vaccines.
However, the recipient has insisted that he got 217 vaccinations for private reasons over 29 months.
According to the researchers, vaccinations contain parts of the pathogen or a type of construction plan that the vaccinated person¡¯s cells can use to produce these pathogenic components themselves. They wanted to learn what happens if the body¡¯s immune system is exposed extremely often to a specific antigen due to the high number of vaccinations.
¡°We learned about his case via newspaper articles. We then contacted him and invited him to undergo various tests in Erlangen. He was very interested in doing so,¡± Dr. Kilian Schober from the Institute of Microbiology ¨C Clinical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene said.
During the study, they found that the individual has large numbers of T-effector cells against SARS-CoV-2 which act as the body¡¯s own soldiers that fight against the virus.?
The test person even had more of these compared to the control group of people who had received three vaccinations. The researchers did not perceive any fatigue in these effector cells, they were similarly effective as those in the control group who had received the normal number of vaccinations.
While this is a unique case, he is not alone when it comes to getting more doses of COVID-19 vaccines than required.
In 2022, it was revealed that an 84-year-old man from Bihar had received 12 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Brahmadev Mandal, a resident of Madhepura in Bihar who was suffering from back and knee pain took the unusual step as his body felt better after taking the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Mandal even claimed that his joint pain was cured due to the COVID-19 vaccines.
