Imagine an object that can kill you just for being close to it for a few minutes! What if we told you that such an object is not just imagination, but?it?exists in reality? And it has aptly been called the most dangerous object on Earth.?Dubbed the Elephant's Foot, the most dangerous object on Earth is located in the ruins of the?Chernobyl?Nuclear Power Plant in modern-day Ukraine.?
The Elephant's Foot is a two-meter-wide lump of solidified lava formed from the molten core of the?Chernobyl?nuclear reactor. Even after nearly four decades since the?Chernobyl?nuclear disaster, radiation from the Elephant's Foot is so strong that just being inside the room for 300 seconds will kill you in two days.

The Elephant's Foot was discovered in December 1986, six months after the?Chernobyl?disaster, and got its name due to its shape resembling the foot of an elephant.
The Elephant's Foot is a solidified corium glass composed primarily of silicon dioxide, with traces of dissolved uranium, titanium, zirconium, magnesium, and graphite. Once this mixture cooled down, it solidified into a new material called corium. Part of the corium fell through the steam corridor, which is today known as the Elephant's Foot.?
When it was discovered, the Elephant's Foot was putting out 10,000?roentgens?(a measure of radiation) per hour - around 1,000 times the dose required to give you cancer.?
Due to its extremely dangerous nature, the Elephant's Foot has been off-limits to humans and has only been opened to scientists a few times.?
One of the few people who have ever gotten close to the Elephant's Foot is a Kazakh national called Artur Korneyev, the then Deputy Director of Shelter Object, who is seen looking at the lava flow in one of the rare photos taken of it in 1996.
