Illegal immigration was one of the most discussed topics in the recently concluded US presidential elections. Donald Trump and Republicans, who made several false accusations against immigrants, including the wild claim that Haitian immigrants were eating cats, were able to make the best of the growing anti-migrants sentiments among Americans.??
With Trump set to return to the White House in January as the 47th President of the US, immigration is likely to be one of the key focus areas of the new administration. Indian-origin Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy, who is expected to get a key position in the Trump administration, has given a glimpse of what Trump 2.0's immigration policy would be.??
"Think about your country like your body. No migration without consent, and consent should only be granted to migrants who benefit America. Those who enter without consent must be removed," Ramaswamy told CNBC.??

He also pointed out that the 'Remain in Mexico policy' initiated by Trump during his first term in office is still the law of the land. Under this policy, people seeking asylum in the US had to wait in Mexico for months or years until their claims were processed.??
Ramaswamy further said that those entering the US illegally or caught committing crimes will be deported.??
"You have millions of immigrants who are already in detention. Anybody who has committed a crime after coming here ¨C automatic deportation. Anybody who violated the law while here ¨C automatic deportation," he said.??
After his election victory, Trump had said that the US would end citizenship by birth, under which children, even if they were born on American soil, would be granted citizenship even if their parents were in the country illegally.??
"The kid of an illegal born in this country should not automatically enjoy birthright citizenship, just as the kid of a Mexican diplomat who is here legally. The 14th Amendment is clear on that. The same goes for someone who has entered this country illegally for that purpose," Ramaswamy explained.
