August 18, 2008. It was the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Dambulla.?
Virat Kohli was making his international debut and was already a star. Just six months ago he had led India to the Under-19 World Cup title and over the past year had been touted as the next big thing.

But for a person who would go on to lead the country, his debut was nothing great. The then 19 year-old made just 12 and India managed just 146. Sri Lanka would win by 8 wickets but Kohli would only emerge stronger.
He worked on his game, cemented his place in the side and eventually went on to become the leader in all formats.?

The journey has been rough these 13 years and it is a raging fire inside him which keeps him going. Well the spark was lit way back in 2008 on that fateful day when he walked out to open the innings.
