Sachin Tendulkar is sitting pretty at the top of the highest run-getters in Test matches.

With 15,921 runs, the Master Blaster is ruling the roost but there is a challenger approaching.
Alastair Cook currently has 11,057 runs to his name and is the closest among the active Test players. 4865 runs separate him from taking the top spot. So the only question is, can he do it?
Time is certainly on his side. Cook is 32 and has at least 4 to 5 years of TYest cricket ahead of him.

What adds to his advantage is the fact that he does not play the other formats and England play many Tests in a year. Also, since he is not the skipper any more, he can play with a lot of freedom and score just as heavily.
Of course several variables like form and fitness do come into play and it is too early to take a call. The fact remains that he is the closest and the best bet to go the distance.
So cricket fans, let's wait with baited breath and see if this southpaw from England can break a legend's record.?

If so, it will be history in the making. If not, then the wait continues. Sachin hjas held the record since 2008, when he went past Brian Lara's tally of 11,953.
