Brian Lara is one of the greatest ever batsman and often regarded as epitome to judge the left-handed batsmen. The world record holder of highest individual score in Test cricket and First class cricket, Lara has quite a few world records to his name.
His highest Test score of 400 against England in 2004, still stands as the highest individual score in longest format of the game. The record is 15 years old and still stands.?
While there is always a case of records are meant to be broken, no batsman has so far been lucky to break the 400 run barrier with Lara still the lone man standing. Quite recently, David Warner was on course to break the record but Australia declared the innings with the opener not out on 335.?
But the West Indies legend believes it will soon be broken, and he has even picked the players who might be able to achieve the gigantic feat.?
"He did look destined to do it. But the decision to declare was vindicated as Australia got six Pakistan wickets by the evening. It's all destiny and it's not something that you could plan," Lara said.
"Players like David Warner, in past Gayle, Inzamam, Jayasuriya, Hayden, attacking players are the ones who are best suited to break record.?
"Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma if he bats day or day and half, can definitely break the record. Hopefully, I am around to see that. I don't think records are meant to be kept. Sitting down as 50-year-old with two World records is not that exciting."
There you have it from the man himself - he has tipped the two of the best batsmen of this generation to break the record. With Rohit scoring big in ODIs, it won't be a surprise if he breaks the record. While, Virat Kohli is a sure shot contender, because he is a machine.?
