IND vs AUS, 3rd Test: "Rain, rain, go away" is surely something cricket fans are hoping for, but it seems their prayers may not be answered. Since the start of the 3rd Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, it has been a disappointing affair for Indian fans, both due to their team's performance and the numerous rain interruptions.?
With the series currently tied 1-1, Australia was cruising toward victory in the third Test of the five-match series. However, as the game enters Day 5 on December 18, will the rain stay away, or will showers interrupt once again??
According to AccuWeather, it will be cloudy and very humid, with a chance of a thunderstorm or two in the afternoon. The probability of precipitation is 90% (25% in the morning and 90% in the afternoon), with a 54% chance of thunderstorms. A minor flood warning is in effect until 12:39 PM on the fifth day.?
Day 1 of the Test saw Rohit Sharma win the toss and choose to field, during which Australia reached 28-0 and rain limited the play to just 13.2 overs .On Day 2, Steve Smith (101) and Travis Head (152) helped Australia reach 405-7 by stumps. They were bowled out for 445 on the Day 3 morning, courtesy of Jasprit Bumrah taking 6-76.?
Later, when it came for India's chance to bat, they were reduced to 51-4 by stumps, with intermittent rain delays. On Day 4 morning, India were 167-6 at lunch, but play was again delayed by rain after the break. It resumed briefly before stopping once more with India at 180-6.
Australia were hoping to enforce a follow-on, but thanks to the small partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, the Men in Blue have a good opportunity to finish the Test with a draw at the end of Day 4.?
Now, on Day 5, the Aussies, will need as many overs as possible to secure a result with 98 overs scheduled. They will aim to take India's last wicket quickly, then likely bat for around 20 overs to set a target of around 300, depending on how aggressive they choose to be, with about 70 overs remaining.
