A lot is happening on Day 2 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy; however, the news of Jasprit Bumrah leaving the field is concerning. During the fifth and final clash between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Bumrah was seen walking off after bowling an over, then changing and getting into a car to be taken to a nearby hospital.
It is reported that the vice-captain left the field due to a niggle, and the extent or nature of Bumrah's injury remains uncertain. The commentators have stated that the scans have been for the pacer's back.?In his absence, Virat Kohli has been named the stand-in skipper and is aiming to dismiss the Australian side before they gain a lead.
With Bumrah, a crucial and dependable player for the team, not playing due to injury, Indian fans are growing anxious. The pacer has been one of the few Indian players in form, and with him not bowling, it seems like Indian fans are losing hope.?
However, despite his absence, Nitish Kumar Reddy picked up two wickets, while Prasidh Krishna and?Mohammed Siraj?added one each, getting the Aussies all out. Fans, have however, taken ton X (formerly known as Twitter) to hope that "Boom Boom" - what he is fondly called - is ok and is able to play.
India have a lead of 4! After getting bowled out for 185 runs, the Men in Blue got the hosts all out for 181 in 51 overs. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna have picked up three wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah and Nitish Kumar Reddy have two each to their name.?
For the Australian side, debutant Beau Webster was the pick of the batter, having scored 57 off 105. Steven Smith (33 off 57), Sam Konstas (23 off 38), Alex Carey (21 off 36) also made valuable contributions.??
