Having already clinched their semi-final spot, this match served as vital practice for the Women in Blue as they look to reach their second consecutive final and potentially claim the title. The defending champions went on to win the clash against?Scotland by 150 runs.
Scotland won the toss and opted to field, a decision that did not go in their favour. Indian openers Kamalini G and Trisha Gongadi, came out firing as the pair unleashed a barrage of boundaries, propelling India to a dominant 67-0 by the end of the powerplay. They continued their attack relentlessly as they took the side to 104-0 by the 10th over.?
Kamalini G brought up her half-century with a boundary before Scotland finally claimed their first breakthrough, courtesy of Macie Maceira. The Indian opening pair, however, did manage to set a new record for the highest partnership in this World Cup, amassing 147 runs.?
Trisha Gongadi then made history by scoring the first-ever century in the tournament. Alongside Sanika Chalke, she powered India to an impressive total of 207-1, which is not only the highest score of this edition but also the second-highest in the history of the tournament.?
In response, Scotland struggled and were bowled out for just 58 runs in 14 overs. The top scorers for Scotland were openers Pippa Kelly and Emma Walsingham, who both managed to get 12 runs each. Aayushi Shukla was the standout bowler for India, taking 4 wickets for just 8 runs. Meanwhile, left-arm spinners Vaishnavi Sharma (3/5) and Trisha Gongadi (3/6) also played pivotal roles with the ball.?
