It has been months since Virat Kohli¡ªone of the most followed Indians on Instagram¡ªstopped posting online, except for brand deals. Despite having over 270 million followers, the star batter, who recently won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, has not shared anything. His last cricket-related post was when the Indian team met PM Narendra Modi after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Fans have noticed that the 'King' hasn't posted about his recent cricketing achievements, with his profile now filled with brand endorsements and promotional content, sparking curiosity. Some even believe this social media silence started after he shared his Yo-Yo Test results on Instagram and was reprimanded by the BCCI.
Addressing this during an event in Bengaluru on March 15, ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Kohli explained why he chooses to stay away from social media interactions.
"I don't post on social media much because technology without a goal is destructive. Posting on social media doesn't change anything in my life. People's comments don¡¯t affect me, so I don't feel the need to post," the 36-year-old said at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Innovation Lab's Indian Sports Summit.
Meanwhile, the RCB star arrived in Bengaluru on Saturday as the franchise prepares for IPL 2025. He will soon join the training camp at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as the team gears up to face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the tournament opener. His arrival video, posted by the franchise¡¯s official handle, quickly went viral online.
The cricketer remains IPL's all-time leading run-scorer, amassing 8,004 runs in 252 matches for RCB since 2008. He was bought by the franchise after he led India to victory in the U19 World Cup that same year. He has since been RCB's face and brand value. Kohli has previously stated his unwavering loyalty to the team, committing to stay with the franchise for the rest of his career.
