There's a reason why Virat Kohli is called the 'chase-master' as he becomes a different beast when facing Pakistan. In the high-stakes Champions Trophy 2025 clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Kohli rose to the occasion amid roaring cheers from the crowd.
Kohli stepped in after skipper Rohit Sharma departed for 20 off 15 balls. He built crucial partnerships ! first with Shubman Gill (46 off 52) and then with Shreyas Iyer (56 off 67) ! before remaining unbeaten at 100 off 111 balls. India clinched victory by six wickets, finishing the chase in 42.3 overs.
As India steadily approached the target, the crowd's focus shifted to one question: could Kohli score his century? With every run bringing India closer to victory, Kohli timed his chase perfectly, reaching his 51st ODI ton ! his fourth against Pakistan ! by hitting the winning runs.
With this win, India has all but knocked Pakistan out of the tournament they are hosting. Having lost two out of their three group games, Pakistan now relies on other teams' results to stand any chance of making it to the semi-finals.
Fans flooded X (formerly known as Twitter) with praise for the chase-master. Even Netflix India joined in, posting, "The Greatest Chase-Master!"
Punjab Kings (PBKS) took a playful dig at Babar Azam, writing, "King kar lega, bola na!"
One fan declared, "REMEMBER THE NAME. #ViratKohli"
Another added, "He is not just a king; he is an emperor."
