Hardik Pandya failed to pass a fitness test and was not picked for India's tour of New Zealand.
It appears Pandya is not ready to play at international level and will have to play at least one game for Baroda at domestic level before being considered in the scheme of things.
He had just failed the the bowling workload monitoring test, and that has to be passed when returning from a back surgery.
Pandya said he would be fit for the second half of the New Zealand series but BCCI say it is his own assessment.?
"He must have felt that he will be fit. But as we know he has failed the fitness test contrary to what his trainer S Rajnikant claims. It was never about Yo-Yo Test but about bowling fitness. He failed the workload test which broadly means failing fitness test," a senior BCCI source told PTI?
Pandya's fitness is crucial ahead of the World T20. His value as a batsman, bowler and fielder provide India the much-needed balance.
It is an uphill battle for Pandya as he is in a race against time to be fit, convince selectors of his fitness and be match-ready before the tournament begins in October.?
