Usually when it comes to man vs animal, man always wins. But there are times when dogs have their way over men. The man at the receiving end on this occasion was Ethiopian Mule Wasihun, who was running in the World 10K marathon in Benguluru recently.
Wasihun was leading the race when he took a wrong turn and had to forego his lead. However, that was not all, once he managed to get back on the marathon path he had another challenge in waiting - a stray dog. Dogs chasing cars, riders and athletes on the road isn't uncommon but this was a persevering effort by a certain stray dog on the streets of Bengaluru that provided a hilarious yet disconcerting show for the locals.
The dog took a liking to Wasihun and started chasing him near the Cubbon park Metro Station according to reports. When Wasihun became aware of the dog chasing him, he upped his pace but so did the dog who till that time seemed to be harmless.?
At one point, the dog came in between the legs of Wasihun and the athlete, in order to avoid a fall, had to jump over the animal. And because there was no stopping Wasihun the dog made an attempt to attack him before he could retreat.
The result of the race was that Wasihun finished ninth in the race which he should've won had he not taken a wrong turn earlier. The whole dog chasing him fiasco presented an unwelcoming side of the city to participating athletes from all over the world. "Unfortunately it's something that we can't control as race organisers. We have raised it with the relevant authorities," said the organiser of the race which was titled TCS Bengaluru World 10K.
