Rishabh Pant will not play the second ODI against Australia since he has not recovered from the concussion.
He will go to Bengaluru to recuperate while the team heads to Rajkot for the next game.
"He (Pant) is ruled out of the 2nd ODI. His availability for the final ODI will be based on how he responds during the rehabilitation protocol," BCCI said in a statement.
Pant was hit by a bouncer which got him out and did not keep during Australia's innings in the first match.
"After getting hit on his helmet while batting in the 1st ODI, Rishabh got a concussion and took no further part in the game. He was then taken to the hospital for overnight monitoring under a specialist.
"He is stable and all his scan reports are clear. He has been discharged from the hospital and will head to NCA, Bengaluru to undergo his rehabilitation protocol," it added.
He made 28 in the first match and is facing a race against time to be fit for the last match on January 19.?
This is not good for him as his performances are already under the scanner both with bat and glove. He will be looking to comeback soon as with KL Rahul keeping in his place, Sanju Samson waiting in the wings and MS Dhoni still not out of the picture, he cannot afford such setbacks.?
