This became India's record-extending 10th SAFF age-group title. The Blue Colts have now defeated Bangladesh in all four SAFF finals they've met in, including last year's U-17 championship clash.?It also marked India's second SAFF U-19 title, following their triumph over Pakistan in the 2023 final.
The Blue Colts took a one-goal lead into halftime, thanks to a stunning direct free-kick by captain Singamayum Shami in just the second minute of the game.
However, Bangladesh hit back in the 2nd half, with substitute player Md Joy Ahamed netting the equaliser in the 61st minute. With the score locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time, the match headed into a tense penalty shootout.?
