Now he is in Varanasi but for a different reason. He came to fulfil the last wish of a shoe-shiner from Sydney.
Brian Rudd was a homeless 58-year-old who was quite a popular figure, but the man passed away without realising his dream of visiting India.
According to a report in the Indian Express, Brian wanted his ashes scattered in the Ganga in Varanasi, based on the Hindu belief that the ritual frees a soul from the cycle of life and death.

So Waugh decided to travel all the way here to make the last wish come true. He felt happy to be able to fulfil Brian's last wish.
What a gesture from one of the greatest cricketers and a certainly a good human being!
