In the words of the NEW WWE Champ Jinder Mahal - ?Hell has frozen over!
WWE
Yes, the Maharaja - who made his return to WWE less than a year back - has long left his 3MB days behind and is now holding the belt that every pro-wrestler in the world craves for - The WWE championship.
In retrospect, the only other 'Indian' to hold a major title in WWE was the Great Khali and even he did not get the WWE title but had to be content with the World Heavyweight Championship.?
Some might argue that he is not entirely India, given his Canadian upbringing, but the champ strongly identifies with his Punjabi heritage and so does his WWE gimmick.
This push from the WWE, which saw him pick up a clean pin-fall victory over one of the industry's great stalwarts Randy Orton, seems to be a shocking one for the pro-wrestling world but surely one that delights the WWE fans from India.
When Indiatimes recently interacted with Jinder, he came across as a humble guy who was thankful for the support that Indian fans gave him while being confident on beating Randy and surely the confidence did deliver. You can read his entire interview here
Will he continue his great run or fall by the side soon, we hope it's the first one. ?Here's him thanking the WWE Universe in India for their support:
For now, let the party drums roll...
