When AB de Villiers is batting, setting a field is very difficult for him. Bowlers do not know where to bowl as he just creates something out of nothing and sends the ball to the fence.
IPL
Sometimes setting a field does not matter either as the ball ends up over the boundary. Some of his shots are so outrageous, one really needs to see them again and again. None more so than his one handed six for RCB in IPL 2019 vs KXIP in Bengaluru.
No, we are not kidding, he swatted a short ball with the bat in one hand and it ended up on the roof! Yes, we bet you won't believe us, take a look:
IPL
De Villiers slammed 82 not out in 44 balls and it was a brutal knock. Most of us must have been asking ourselves as to why he retired, the man is just as lethal even now. His innings propelled RCB to 202/4 and eventually a 17-run win ensured they remained in the playoff race. He may be 35, but has the agility of a teenager.
IPL 2019 has gone well for De Villiers. He has played some great knocks which have helped RCB recover after they lost 6 in 6 to start badly. Now they have won 4 in 5 which is a good way to go about things. At an average of nearly 60, with over 400 runs and a strike rate of almost 160, De Villiers is every bowlers' nightmare. He might not look intimidating like Andre Russell but the sheer power he unleashes has undone the best of the best. The IPL is nearing its business end and matches are getting closer. So do not be surprised to see more such knocks and similar shots in the future. After all, we do not call him cricket's Superman for no reason.?
