Kane Williamson got the best view when Steve Smith flew in the air to grab what has to be one of the best catches of all time. Having steamrolled over Pakistan, Australia faced neighbours New Zealand on home soil.
After Marnus Labuschagne hit a brilliant 143, the Aussies ended their innings at 416. New Zealand had to bat out the final session and soon saw themselves facing hostile spells from pace twins Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. Jeet Raval and fell cheaply which went that Williamson and Ross Taylor had to repair the damage.?
They did just that putting on over 50 runs and it seemed things were looking better. But all that changed when Smith plucked the ball out of thin air to end Williamson's vigil. Having calmly gone about his batting, the Kiwi skipper misjudged the pace failed to produce a shot and it proved to be just a horizontal shove to the fiery delivery bowled by Starc.
Accepting the offer nicked by Williamson towards the slip fielding position, Smith took the one-handed stunner to baffle the Twitterati on social media. Smith's Supermanesque catch reduced the Kiwis for 97 for five as they lost three wickets by scoring just 20 runs. Starc almost dismantled half of the Kiwis batting lineup by closing the final session with four for 31 in 11 overs.?
"To hang onto him was a big moment in tonight's session," Starc said.? ??
