Ronaldinho is a legend who helped Brazil win the FIFA World Cup in 2002. His freekick to find the back of the net in the quarters was the highlight of the tournament. He soon got a red card to miss the semis but was back for the final that the Brazilians won.??
But now he is in the news for the wrong reasons. It appears he was arrested for passport fraud in Paraguay. The 39-year-old and his 49-year-old brother Roberto de Assis were taken into custody by the police.?
Ronaldinho and his brother are not being detained, they are still under judicial investigation and they have to testify. Then it will be decided whether they will be arrested or not," Paraguay's interior minister Euclides Acevedo told ESPN Brasil.?
"Mr Ronaldinho has a false passport. That is a crime and that's why his arrest has been ordered," he told told local radio station AM 1080.?
"I respect his sports popularity, but the law needs to be respected no matter who you are."?
This is not the first time that he has been involved in a passport controversy with his brother. In 2018, their travel documents were confiscated by Brazil authorities as they had failed to pay a fine from a 2015 court case. ?
