WWE Elimination Chamber 2025: Will Cody Rhodes accept The Rock's offer? John Cena holds the key

Elimination Chamber 2025, the World Wrestling Entertainment’s latest Pay-Per-View event, is around the corner. This year’s instalment of the eagerly-awaited show will be held in Canada on March 2. It features a segment? in which Cody Rhodes, the Undisputed WWE Champion, will decide whether to align with The Rock ahead of WrestleMania 41.

His decision may change the very landscape of the WWE heading into the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’.?

Cody Rhodes accepting The Rock’s offer may create an Attitude Era-like situation

During a recent appearance on SmackDown, The Rock asked Cody Rhodes to be his ‘my champion’ heading into WrestleMania 41. He then asked ‘The American Nightmare’ to let him know about his decision at Elimination Chamber 2025. Fans,as expected, have extreme feelings about this.

?While some feel Rhodes should say ‘yes’ to The Rock, others feel he should turn down the other. A face value, both scenarios look promising. However, going by the WWE’s past and its future prospects, it would be better for the ‘son of a common man’ to turn down The Rock’s support and remain his own man.? The reason for this is quite simple. If Rhodes takes up the offer, the subsequent arc could come across as a rehash of the ‘Corporation’ angle that defined the Attitude Era in the 1990s.?

In case you did not know, many decades ago Vince McMahon formed the Corporation to control the WWE (then known as the WWF). As that angle progressed, he aligned with The Rock and transformed him into the ‘Corporate Champion’.?

Coming back to the present, The Rock’s promo on SmackDown suggested that he has similar plans for Cody Rhodes with ‘The Brahma Bull’ doing what Vince did back then. There is nothing wrong with rebooting a popular track in a modern avatar. However, this could lead to avoidable? comparisons and dilute the current product. Moreover, looking back at a time when the company is moving ahead and embracing the ‘Netflix era’ may not be best for business.?

How John Cena can affect the decision

That said, it would make sense for Cody Rhodes to accept the offer if the Elimination Chamber match produces a very specific outcome– John Cena winning. The GOAT, Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, Logan Paul, Seth Rollins, and Damian Priest will be locking horns in the contest with the winner facing Cody for his title at WrestleMania 41. It would make perfect sense for Cody to have The Rock in his corner at the ‘Show of Shows’ if the opponent is Cena. The Rock, who has? taken on the Cenation leader on two occasions,? has a strong history with the soon-to-retire star. This could make for compelling TV on the road to WrestleMania 41 and transform the former Doctor of Thuganomics; last appearance at the grand event a memorable one.?
