Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest has secured himself a title rematch with defending champion Gunther. Priest emerged victorious in the fatal four-way match, which also featured Seth Rollins, Sheamus, and Dominik Mysterio on Monday Night RAW, to become the No. 1 contender for Gunther's championship.
Priest picked up the win by pinning Dominik, thanks to interference from Bronson Reed, who took Seth Rollins and Sheamus out of action.
After the win, Gunther confronted Priest as RAW went off the air. At this point, it is unclear when Priest will face Gunther for the championship. The most likely scenario is that the duo could headline Survivor Series, which will take place on 30 November 2024 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
This will be the second time this year that Priest and Gunther will face each other for the World Championship. Gunther won his first World Heavyweight Championship in August, defeating Priest after interference from Finn Balor.
The 37-year-old Austrian, also known as 'The Ring General,' made his WWE debut in 2019 for NXT UK. In April 2022, Gunther made his main roster debut on SmackDown. In June, Gunther defeated Ricochet to win the Intercontinental Championship and held the belt for a record 666 days.
Gunther also won the King of the Ring in 2024 before claiming his first World Heavyweight Championship.
Priest, who started his professional wrestling career with ROH in 2015, joined WWE in 2018. He is a former NXT North American Champion and United States Champion. Priest won his World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL after he successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre.
