Google today announced that launch of its Hindi Google Assistant. The update is rolling out to devices with Android 6.0 and up, and will soon also make its way to Android 5.0, iOS and Android Go as well.
The new Google Assistant lets you interact with your digital helper entirely in Hindi, if that¡¯s what you prefer. It works the same way as usual, just hold the Home button or say ¡°Ok Google¡± to activate the assistant, and then speak your orders.
¡°The Google Assistant is truly Indian, it¡¯s your helpful dost that speaks our language and understands the things you care about, from finding biryani recipes, to pulling up the latest cricket score, or finding directions to the nearest ATM,¡± Purvi Shah, Technical Program Manager for Google Assistant said in a press release. ¡°In order to make it even more useful to Indians over time, developers and businesses can now build Actions for the Hindi Assistant through the developer platform Actions on Google. Once an action is built, you can just say ¡°Ok Google, talk to¡± and access the service or content straight through your Google Assistant.¡±
The new Hindi Assistant is also powered by machine learning and natural language understanding. That means it can understand the intent behind your words, based on context, and better help you instead of only responding literally to what you ask of it. And it¡¯ll keep getting better over time.?
You can ask your Google Assistant, ¡°Sabse kareeb Punjabi restaurant kahaan hain?¡± for food recommendations, or ¡°Cricket ka score kya hain?¡± to get updates on the current match. ¡°Dadar tak pahunchne mein kitna samay lagega?¡± will instead map your route and give you traffic updates.
You can even say, ¡°Kal subah mujhe saat baje jagaao,¡± to set an alarm, or, ¡°Selfie kheencho,¡± or even just, ¡°Daddy ko SMS bhejo ¡®5 minutes mein pahunchenge¡¯.¡± For a full list of Hindi commands, you can check out the website here.
To access the Google Assistant in Hindi, simply set your device¡¯s language to Hindi, and update your Google Search app to the latest version.
