Samsung on Sunday finally confirmed whatĄ¯s been rumoured for a while, that itĄ¯s Galaxy Note 7 series smartphones would be refurbished and put back on sale soon.
The Galaxy Note 7 was responsible for SamsungĄ¯s biggest embarrassment in the past decade, after the units shipped out began catching fire and exploding. After multiple incidents, including of replacement units catching fire, the entire lot was finally mass recalled.
Now, the company has confirmed that it plans to refurbish the Galaxy Note 7 and sell it under a new name ?The Galaxy Note Fan Edition (FE) will hit shelves in South Korea on July 7 as a limited edition smartphone, with only 400,000 units being put up for sale. The devices have been made from parts of the recalled Note 7 handsets, as well as unused components and new batteries
Samsung has said itĄ¯s yet to decide whether the Fan Edition will eventually be released anywhere else outside South Korea. ItĄ¯s currently priced at approximately $611, much lower than the Note 7Ą¯s original $1,000 price tag.
