Smartphone cameras are so good these days that they're posing an existential threat to traditional standalone cameras.?
So it's good to come across a report that says a fully functional, 95-year-old camera getting sold at an unbelievably high price at a museum's auction.
Westlicht Museum
An ultra limited edition Leica camera from 1923 was sold for a record $2.9 million euros (or Rs 19 crore) at an auction conducted in the Austrian capital of Vienna, according to the Westlicht museum.?

Sporting an?aluminum body with black lacquered brass top plate, base plate and nickel plated knobs, the camera only weighed 135 gram and had an aperture between?f/3.5 > f/12.?
The pre-production?camera (no. 122) was made two years before the first Leica was originally sold in the market. What's more it is one of only three test cameras known to be in their original condition, according to the Westlicht. Only 25 such cameras were made over 95 years ago.

The Leica 0-series had started at a price of 400,000 Euro and rose to a result six times higher. A private collector from Asia emerged as the winner from the bidding war, said a statement from the museum.
The camera to hold the previous world record was a Leica 0-series No. 116, which the same museum sold for $2.6 million back in 2012.
