Though the iPhone XS has been doing okay in the US, sales have been struggling in markets like India and China.
After all, the device is priced at over Rs 1 lakh, not a small amount. However, analysts believe the?iPhone XR can change that paradigm.
Reuters
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned analyst known to accurately predict both iPhone sales and features, the iPhone XR is going to be a smash hit like the company hasn't seen in a while. In a note to investors, Kuo said his estimates for iPhone XR shipments in the fourth quarter are higher than what he previously predicted: 36 to 38 million units will be shipped out to suppliers.

In total, that's a large chunk from his 83 million estimates of all iPhones to be shipped this quarter. Thanks to the iPhone XR, if he's right, it would see Apple's sales spike by around 5.7 million units compared to the same period last year.
Of course, shipments don't necessarily translate to sales, but it belies a confidence Apple has in the diminutive 2018 iPhone. And Kuo's not the only analyst that has indicated the XR will have higher numbers shipped than other iPhones. After all, following the unveiling of the device. Apple prioritized it to make the iPhone XR half of all new iPhones being manufactured.
To recap, the iPhone XR has the same hardware specifications as the XS, but the difference is a single camera lens on the rear, and a smaller size. It also comes with an LED display instead of OLED. All of these make the device significantly cheaper than its larger siblings, which is a huge factor in emerging markets like India.
It doesn't hurt that it's 6.1-inch display is also larger than last gen's iPhone 8 Plus, while still having an overall slightly smaller frame. On top of that is also the fact that it comes in exciting new colours, including black, white, red, blue, yellow, and coral. All of these make for an iPhone like nothing people have seen in recent years, a refreshing change.
