Did you know that you can use iPhone's built-in translator app? If you're an avid traveller and depend on third-party apps to translate from one language to another in real-time, the iPhone's built-in translator might be of utility to you.
Although there are numerous third-party apps already available on the App Store on iOS, this translator can be accessed on your iPhone without the need for any app, as long as your device runs on at least iOS 14.
The Translate app on your iPhone can deal with both text and voice in the written and spoken form. Currently, the app supports 19 languages: Arabic, Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese, Slash Gear reported.
1. On your iPhone, find the "Translate" app on your home screen and open it
2. In the bottom, select the Translation tab on the left.
3. Now, pick the two languages you'd like to translate between. The blue dot depicts the language you're translating from.
4. Simply add the text through voice or your keypad.
When the translation is complete, tap the Play button to hear it in spoken form. You can long-press the Play button to pick a slower playback speed for the audio.?
In addition, you can save a translated phrase as a favourite by clicking on the star icon. This way, the translation becomes more accessible and can be useful while travelling on long vacations.
That's not it! You can also expand the translation so you may show it to the person in front of you with whom you might be trying to communicate. in addition, word defintions may be found by clicking on the book icon and finding a word to define.
With the Face to Face mode, conversation between two parties is made easier through translations. You can also use the Camera tab in the app to translate text in front of you, much like Google Lens. This will work if your iPhone is running iOS 16 or above.
