WhatsApp is reportedly working on a "double-tap" feature that would allow users to forward and rewind videos. The scrub-like control would help users forward or rewind a video with a lot more ease. Think of how you move forward or backward within the video player on YouTube - Meta-owned WhatsApp could be getting the same functionality soon.
According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out the functionality to users soon. To skip to a particular part of the video, users must tap the screen twice on its left or right side. This makes it a straightforward and easy-to-use feature.

"Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.24.6 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out a feature to to skip forward and backward videos," the report said.
Currently, the feature is only available to a select few beta testers. In the coming weeks and months, the feature could roll out to more users. In order to use this feature, you need the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update from the Google Play Store.
The video player on WhatsApp is in-built, meaning that users are not directed to a different app to play videos and can play videos directly from the app. Even then, navigating to your desired part of the video can prove to be cumbersome, especially if you want to do it quickly. Tapping on the video shows you the playback progress after which you can move to a suitable point - forward or backward.
