Microsoft's Bing Chat is taking over browsers! The company's chatbot is supported by GPT-4 and works like an AI-powered search engine in conversational format. Currently, Bing Chat is available exclusively on Microsoft Edge, the company's own browser.
Now, Microsoft is testing the chatbot on other well-known browsers such as Google Chrome and Safari. This upcoming feature was found by Reddit users but it was later confirmed by Mikhail Parakhin, Microsoft¡¯s head of advertising and web services division.
Currently, Google dominates the online search sector with over 85% market share. By incorporating GPT-4's generative abilities, Bing Chat could get some edge over Chrome, considering how Google's own chatbot Bard lost some credibility after a botched introductory presentation that generated factually incorrect results.
Microsoft's Bing search engine has already benefitted from the inclusion of ChatGPT's capabilities, which has also added to the growing popularity of the Edge browser. When Bing Chat was rolled out, having Microsoft Edge was a requirement. To Chrome loyalists, third-party extensions were able to help.

But these extensions could become a thing of the past with Bing Chat being tested on other browsers. Even though Microsoft hasn't released a full list of browsers that will support the Bing Chat feature.

It appears that the deployment will take place in the coming weeks. The browsers that could Bing Chat support include Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. With this move, Microsoft could onboard a new legion of users who wish to use Bing Chat on a browser that's not Microsoft Edge.
