Its the era of electric vehicles (EVs), be it in the mass commuter segment or the niche vertical of superbikes and supercars. An interesting trend is that it is not only the giant automobile companies that are contributing to this. There are several, recently emerged players as well, bringing highly advanced products to the market.
Lightning Motorcycles adds to the list, with a recent teaser of its upcoming electric bike. Though the firm has not shown a working prototype, given a timeline or even released a full image of the bike, it has announced the specifications for it and might we say they are impressive.?

The California automaker will be coming out with ¡®Strike¡¯, its new electric motorcycle, in March. The motorcycle is said to hit top speeds of 240 kmph with an equally impressive range of 240 km. Though keep in mind that the mentioned range will not be obtained anywhere near the top speed.?
In any case, the numbers are more than impressive on many fronts. Consider the fact that Harley Davidson¡¯s recently announced electric motorcycle - LiveWire, has a range of 177 km?on a single charge, a near 30 percent less than what Lightning Strike is offering. A similar comparison can be made between the top speeds of the two.?
If that¡¯s not impressive enough, get this - At $12,998 (Rs 9.2 Lakh), the Strike will cost less than half of what the LiveWire will, at $30,000 (Rs 21 Lakh).?

Another little bit of detail - and a rather incomplete one - is that the Lightning Strike will support DC fast charging, mentioning 35 mins charging. For how much charge? Has not been mentioned.?
At its price point and threshold specifications, the Lightning Strike can easily become a disruptive offering in the electric motorcycle industry. If the DC fast charging works well, it can even give many gasoline bikes a tough run for their money.?
