Apple¡¯s most budget offering in its iPhone 12 series - the iPhone 12 mini has just had its camera tested and as per the results, the device scored just as good as its elder sibling iPhone 12. Both the iPhone models managed to make a total score of 122 in their DxOMark camera review.
With this, both the phones don¡¯t make it to the top 10 smartphone camera list on DxOMark.
The iPhone 12 Mini¡¯s total score of 122 constituted 132 points in the photo category, 112 points in the video category and 41 points in zoom. The scores are exactly the same as what the iPhone 12 scored in its test earlier.
The DxOMark review mentions that the iPhone 12 Mini offers accurate exposure in both photo and video modes. In addition, the camera on the device also has fast and accurate autofocus as well as optimum video stabilisation.
The DxOMark review lauded the autofocus on the iPhone 12 Mini even for low-light conditions. Such conditions were also taken care of with an accurate flash that provided visible variations in exposure, making it much capable for night photography.
The camera also ¡®did a good job of estimating depth' for its bokeh effect while in portrait mode. As for its video mode, DxOMark praised the phone¡¯s efficient video stabilisation and its quick Dolby Vision HDR processing abilities.
DxOMark held back some points to the iPhone 12 Mini due to the lack of a dedicated telephoto camera on the device. The digital zoom offered as an alternative was found to have a low detail in comparison.
The smartphone was also found to have a limited dynamic range in photo. In addition, the review noted that there are ¡°sometimes blue white balance casts, and noise is often visible¡±, especially in low-light and indoor conditions.
Tied with the iPhone 12, this is the lowest score in the iPhone 12 series received by any phone. The bigger iteration - iPhone 12 Pro managed to score 128 points, while the flagship iPhone 12 Pro Max scored 130 points in the camera review.
