Apple had already pledged to donate millions of facemasks to healthcare professionals in the US, along with $15 million towards relief work and now, a recent post by Apple CEO Tim Cook has also revealed that they¡¯ve sourced over 20 million face masks to be given to medical staff in the frontlines. Along with this, they also announced that they¡¯re manufacturing and shipping face shields.
As per the video, posted on Tim Cook¡¯s Twitter, the Cupertino giant is working with governments around the world to distribute face masks across the world. Cook revealed that the first batch of the face shields has been given to Kaiser hospital facilities in the Santa Clara valley earlier this week.
Cook has revealed that the shields can be packed flat into a box of 100, and get assembled before using, in a matter of minutes. Moreover, they¡¯re fully adjustable to suit different face sizes.??
Apple plans to ship 1 million such face shields by the end of this week and continue to share a million of them each week globally.?
Tim Cook said, ¡°Our focus is on unique ways Apple can help, meeting essential needs of caregivers urgently and at a scale the circumstances require.¡±?
He further added, ¡°For Apple, this is a labour of love and gratitude and we will share more of our efforts over time.¡±
Recently, Tim Cook also appreciated and thanked the workers in the frontline who were helping to contain the spreading of the novel coronavirus as well as warehouse workers, delivery people to those stocking the shelves in the local supermarkets.
