Yesterday, Joe Biden finally became the president of the United States of America as he pledged to serve the country at the much-awaited swearing ceremony.?
The massive event hosted several members of the new cabinet as well as previous US presidents, including Barack Obama. It also included current presidential candidates, including Bernie Sanders.
While he wasn¡¯t really happy being there, the way he sat was something the internet took notice of, especially the mittens that he wore, and this became another internet.?
People started photoshopping Bernie Sanders and his mittens and putting him in a variety of scenes -- including in subways, out on the streets and even on top of skyscrapers.?
However, one Indian-origin New York University student, Nick Sawhney, took this to the next level where he created a website that places mittens-wearing Bernie Sanders anywhere in the US, with the help of Google¡¯s street view feature.?
I gave this a whirl by entering a random address in the search box and it worked like a charm. All you need to do is enter your address and as long as that location is listed on Google Maps¡¯ street view, you¡¯ll be able to spot Bernie Sanders there, in the iconic IDGAF pose. This however only works in addresses which support the street view.
In fact, after seeing the craze and popularity of this online, he even went ahead and made this open-source, revealing the secrets on Github.
People online have even spotted that the jacket he was spotted wearing for the ceremony was the same ones we¡¯ve seen in Bernie Sanders memes.?
For people who¡¯re mocking Bernie Sander¡¯s design choice for going with those mittens,?I stumbled upon a tweet which revealed that the mittens were in fact made by a teacher from Essex Junction, Vt, Jen Ellis and that these are actually made from repurposed wool sweaters and lined with fleece from recycled plastic bottles.
