With COVID-19 spreading across the country, everyone's under a lockdown. Amidst this lockdown, the internet is our only saviour, who can get us through this -- helping many to work from home or study from home, or even just get entertained.?
And now, BSNL has announced that it is offering free internet access to people for a month, to help them get through this.
The state-run telecom service is giving broadband access free for its telephone/ landline customers. In case you never had a BSNL connection in the past, the telecom operator will install copper lines for you for free. You'll just need to purchase a modem/router and you'll be good to go.
BSNL Director (CFA) Vivek Banzal said in a statement, ¡°Broadband service is being offered free of charge for one month to all citizens across the country, who have BSNL landline and do not have any broadband so that they can use this service either to work from home, educate from home or anything that can minimise the need to move outdoor.¡±
All the users, after a month, will be moved to paid plans of their choice. The officials have also pointed out that in case the customer is opting for a high-speed fibre broadband line, they will be required to pay for the fibre optic cable installation.?
However, in case you were wondering that for setting up a connection, you'll have to visit the offices and stand in long queues for getting registered, Banzal has stated that it won't be the case.?
Existing BSNL customers can simply call the customer service to get connected to the internet. He further added, ¡°We have made the whole process paperless and customers need not come to our customer service centre to avail the broadband services.¡±
