Today, with COVID-19 cases springing everywhere around us, we all have become extremely cautious about things, whether it is something as simple as shaking hands or using our phones. We even make sure to sanitize the phone screen when we come home from outside.?
Amidst all this sanitizer has become the next important thing in our lives (of course face masks come first). However, using sanitiser for things like keys, phones etc aren¡¯t the most effective and efficient.
To bridge this gap, students at Bhartiya Skill Development University have developed a UV E-Safe kit -- a sanitation device that sterilizes such things with the help of powerful UV light. The metal contraption has a cavity to keep your belongings like phones, currency notes, keys, jewellery, etc.
The creator touts that this device can be placed in a cupboard or a wardrobe drawer to disinfect your commonly touched things and prevent the spreading of the novel coronavirus.?
Developed by student K Goutam Kumar and his team, UV E-Safe Kit is capable of killing almost all types of bacteria and viruses. The makers claim a success rate of 99.9 percent. Moreover, unlike other devices, this device allows you to adjust and change the exposure of UV rays, depending on the number of things in the box. The box itself has been made using robust CKT design technology which is making it long-lasting. Also, it has zero maintenance and hassle-free installation.
This surely isn¡¯t the first UV-light based sanitisation unit. A few months ago, a student from Lovely Professional University made a UV racket that would allow people to hover over things to disinfect them.?
LPU has filed a patent for the racket and is now looking for industrial partners to commercialise it, that can bring the cost of the racket to around Rs 1,000 a pop.
