Elon Musk is asking Twitter users whether he should step down as the head of the social media company. In the poll, Musk said that the he would abide by the results of the survey.
Musk took over Twitter as CEO towards the end of October. He immediately fired half of Twitter's senior staff and dissolved its board of directors.
As of now, 'yes' is leading the race with 56.3% of the total votes. About 12,18,099 votes were logged by 11 am IST on December 19. With 5 hours to go, anything could happen.
Responding to a suggestion about him having already picked a new CEO for Twitter, Musk said that "no one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor."

Over the weekend, Elon Musk rolled out a Twitter policy that prohibited "free promotion of certain social media platforms" - essentially all of Twitter's rivals - Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Nostr, etc. At the time, Twitter said that cross-posting content would still be allowed.
Regardless, Musk later said that the policy would be changed to affect accounts whose "primary purpose is promotion of competitors, which essentially falls under the no spam rule."
Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who has invested in Nostr, responded to the change in this policy, saying that it "doesn't make sense."

This is one among many misfires by Elon Musk on Twitter, who suspended accounts of journalists after claiming that there had ben assassination attempt on him after his live location was shared with everyone. Later, he reversed the ban.
