Google is upgrading its "Nearby Share" feature, the Android equivalent of what iPhone users would understand as "AirDrop." The self-share option works a lot like AirDrop and allows Android users to share files across the ecosystem - be it on phones, tablets, or Chromebooks.
Google introduced a range of new features besides Nearby Share, like redesigned widgets, fresh sound alerts, live-sharing on Google Meet, and audio descriptions for Google TV. Google claims that the update is focused on improving productivity, accessibility, communication, and entertainment for Android users.
The feature is not available to everyone yet, and Google says it will roll out the ability to "Nearby Share" in the coming weeks. Currently, it requires recipients to approve each share request which might make things a little inconvenient.?
The feature will address the problem by eliminating the need to approve share requests that are logged into the same Google account. According to Google, users will have to opt-in to use the feature for the first time, and all requests after that will be approved automatically.

In addition to this feature, Google is upgrading its widget upgrades and emojis, and much more, a blog post by the company revealed. Google Drive's new widgets include new home screen buttons to help users quickly access Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Sheets.
