If we all hate something our phone, something we hoped manufacturers would be able to fix, it has to be the device's battery life -- hands down.?
Charging a phone is still a lengthy affair. The fastest battery charger in the market by OnePlus still takes under 1 hour to fully charge your phone battery. But all of that's going to change very soon!
Very soon, battery chargers made out of graphene will be able to recharge our smartphones in as little as 10 seconds. No jokes!
Graphene has been heralded as the answer to a lot of humanity's problems -- it can boost internet speeds, filter drinking water better than ever, and more. Just earlier this year we wrote about a graphene-based power bank that charges phones in under 20 minutes. But the future of graphene battery charging is faster than ever!
According to researcher?Kari Hjelt, from Graphene Flagship, graphene-based phone chargers can charge a device in as little as seven seconds. According to Cnet, Hjelt said this about graphene, "It's still a young material, so we're actually quite amazed how much it has developed in only 14 years."
While the under ten seconds super-fast charging is still two years away,?Samsung is already developing?graphene balls that can be integrated into smartphones to enable devices to be charged in less than twelve minutes.
This is made possible because graphene features 140 times faster electron mobility than what is found in silicon cathode in conventional lithium-ion batteries. Graphene also increases the number of cycles a cell can withstand, so batteries can last longer.
