While there is still some time for 5G spectrum auction to happen and 5G itself to launch thereafter, our nation could get indigenously developed 6G technology by 2023-2024, according to an Indian minister.

This was announced by Minister for Communication Ashwini Vaishnaw at a webinar being conducted by Financial Times and the Indian Express.?
He revealed that necessary permissions have been granted to the team working on this technology.?He highlighted that engineers and scientists will have made-in-India telecom software for running the networks, made in India telecom equipment that would be active not just in India but also globally.
Vaishnaw revealed that scientists are also working on an indigenous 5G launch with the development of core software for the technology that¡¯s scheduled to be completed by Q3 of 2022. Vaishnaw also announced that 5G spectrum auctions are expected to take place in Q1 of 2022.

He revealed that TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) is working on the consultation process for the 5G spectrum and the regulator is expected to finish the process by the end of February or March. Moreover, telecom operators had sought the extension of 5G trial period which has also been granted with the new deadline now being March 31, 2022
